Moved to tears…

In response to The Daily Post’s writing prompt: “Moved to Tears.”Crying-picture

Expression of heartfelt gratitude

Display of exceptional fortitude

A compliment that brightens eyes

Genuine advice from the wise

Love that all boundaries transcends

A guilty man’s efforts to make amends

Smiles with sadness hidden in the eyes

The familiar warmth of family ties

I’m moved to tears whenever I find

Above expressions that stay in my mind.

Forces of Nature

In response to The Daily Post’s weekly photo challenge: “Forces of Nature.”

I recently visited Niagara Falls (again), and the sheer energy with which the water drops in to mist below is breathtaking. Here are some pictures, and of course, a verse!

DSC05122DSC05068DSC05085The forces of nature

Shaping past, present, future

Of the earth, and our lives

Can destroy us, or let us thrive

They always remind us

Of our place in the universe

Use them, harness them, we may

But they have the power, they can sway

Fortunes of men and nations

In unpredictable directions..

They represent beauty, raw and pure

Even when their destructive power we endure.

Weekly Photo Challenge: Scale

In response to The Daily Post’s weekly photo challenge: “Scale.”

A speck so minute

In the universe so vast

Existing in the blink of an eye

Of time, moving by so fast.

I have but a moment

In the cosmic calendar

To live all my life

And enjoy the earth’s splendor.

I am a microscopic dot

On  the scale of the earth

Can I leave a mark for generations

That is of some worth?

A voice inside me answered

Of course you can, it said

Being small and short-lived

Are not barriers to getting ahead.

WPC photo challenge: Depth

In response to The Daily Post’s weekly photo challenge: “Depth.”

Deep in the crevices of my heart

That is where my demons reside

Threatening to tear me apart..

But in those depths also hide

Rivers of love and compassion

Battling these demons of mine,

Keeping them in dormant fashion

They maintain a balance fine.

WordPress Weekly Photo Challenge: Serenity

“Dip your serenity in serendipity and let the surprise be your prize”. – AlaGraPHY

Serenity to me conjures up images of candles, peaceful birds and animals, and tranquil waters.
