A Tale of Mutual Co-operation

Partnerships are needed everywhere

It is just one planet that we share

*

In the early part of this century

Norwegian trails were on a downhill slope slippery

The hiking trails that had once been

Popular throughout the world were no longer pristine

Decades of erosion had left them dangerous

Loose stones and falling rocks made the paths treacherous

They needed a solution that was eventually derived

From another part of the world, the Sherpas from Nepal could provide

The Norwegians with the tools they needed to build

Their hiking trails again, in stone masonry on the high mountains they were skilled

*

One summer a small group of Sherpas were invited

To rebuild and repair trails, Norwegians were delighted

By the exceptional work they did on the worn-out trails

That they invited them again to work on a larger scale

The Sherpas received higher wages than they had ever known

A new door towards prosperity of their communities they had been shown

*

In 2015, Nepal was hit by a massive earthquake

And life came full circle on this give and take

The Sherpas from Norway were able to offset the cost

Of rebuilding their communities, to reclaim what was lost

*

It is an uplifting story of mutual collaboration

The kind of exchange we need among nations
