Since my device knows all my secret desires,

All the unarticulated goals to which I aspire

While scrolling through social media, I come across constantly

Tools for learning how to write, advertisements flash across incessantly

For writing retreats, courses, in-person and online

And various apps that to facilitate writing have been designed

To try out some of these resources, I feel tempted indeed

To hone my skills, I believe some form of training I need

The descriptions are highly enticing, no doubt

About writing a groundbreaking bestseller, I begin to fantasize

If I go on a writing retreat, I would be able to galvanize

Myself into writing a book, the idea of which resides only in my head

I want my ideas to expand, take flight instead

One day I shall pick up the right tool to help me write

Until then self-doubt and writer’s block I shall continue to fight
