I love reading stories that make a place come alive
Through vivid descriptions and imagery, through words that convey the vibe
Of the place in which the story is set
The place itself a character that is hard to forget
Based on the stories, I have drawn images in my mind
Correlation between imagination and reality I often find
When to visit those places I get an opportunity
Books have influenced my travel plans heavily

When I imagine myself writing a story, as I sometimes do
I want to bring a place alive through my words too
And that is where I have to stop, because I do not know
Any place in the world well enough to be able to show
My readers the spirit of a place, I guess I could blame
Not having lived in one place long enough to proclaim
That I know a place well, I worry about factual errors too
Setting my story in a fictional town is what I would have to do
But then how would a reader travel to that place…
(That I’m not yet ready to write a story is the reality I need to face)

To travel to places through books and sometimes in real life, I shall continue
And hope audaciously that my dream would sometime in the future come true
