The Hard Pivot

You are running through life at a dizzying pace

Not caring where you are going, until life brings you face to face

With an adversity that forces you to slam the brakes

One sentinel event is all it takes

For life as you were leading it to come to a grinding halt

And you are left disoriented as your defense mechanisms default

No longer work, you have to come up with a game plan new

The routine that was working is no longer going to work for you

At first, changing course seems like a colossal inconvenience

But after going through the initial frustration intense

You realize this as a golden opportunity

For you to slow down mentally and physically

And take time to reflect and redesign

Your life that with your values and goals aligns

*

The rat race was leeching the life out of you

You stepped out because of an adverse event, that is true

But this can turn out to be a blessing in disguise

This is what you needed all along, you realize
