How I Procrastinate

I have a tendency to procrastinate

Until it is bedtime, and then it is too late

To begin the task that I am supposed to complete

The deadline looms near, and it would be a feat

For me to reach completion a day or two in advance

I still have a week and there is no chance

That I would start the assignment today

No matter how enthusiastic I am, I would procrastinate anyway..

*

Over the years , I have found that I increasingly gravitate

Towards leaving tasks pending until close to the deadline, I hesitate

To start work early and then spend more time in its execution

To start work late, but not at the last minute, is a better solution..

*

I have realized that to procrastinate when I am inclined

I start writing, it offsets the guilt in my mind

Because writing as a productive activity I perceive

That I am using my time wisely I can make myself believe

*

I have procrastinated enough and waxed poetic about it too

To think about the task afresh tomorrow is what I am going to do
