The grass was always greener
On the other side of the pond
Thus I was always keener
To break free from the bond
That had me to my land tied
The land that gave me nurture
But my eyes looked in directions wide
Through hope’s narrow aperture
And saw that the land across the ocean
Was laden with opportunities favorable
Then suffocating the tide of emotions
I set out for the enchanted land of fables.

But the grass is greener on the other side
This truth remains irrevocable
Now on the downswing of my roller-coaster ride
I would run back to my land if able!
