In Search of Success

I have gone from failure to failure still searching for success

What I have achieved consistently feels less

Than what I intended to accomplish by this age

My life seems to have stagnated at a stage

Where I am neither able to move forward nor make a U-turn

To disregard my existing skill-set and something new learn

So I am stuck in a life that seems to only swing sideways

In a state of borderline hopelessness I spend my days

*

I feel I have failed because I have not achieved

The version of success that I believed

Was supposed to be mine- I am still trying to see

If there are metrics that would mark success for me

Despite all my misgivings, I have not strayed

Far from my path, in the original direction I have stayed

My journey is the same as I had embarked on years ago

There has been progress, but the progress has been slow

*

Perhaps some day, some version of success I shall find

Even if it is different from the one in my mind..
