Who gets autoimmune disease?

I came across something that sounded like a revelation to me-

The “good girl” archetype correlates with autoimmunity

*

When girls learn early in life to put others’ needs before their own

When a list of acceptable behaviors from childhood they’ve been shown

When the identity they embody is tied to something external

It seems to manifest later in life as a disturbance internal

*

Many women grow up unwilling or unable

To disappoint others, it seems more favorable

To disappoint themselves, so they bury their needs

The price is paid later in the form of an autoimmune condition, indeed

*

The author of this theory concluded that an autoimmune condition

Appears to arise from a lack of self-permission

Therefore by reclaiming that permission a woman can stem the tide

Of attack on her own cells, bring her immune system back on her side

By living life with authenticity, freedom and self-permission

She can achieve lasting remission

*

If you have an autoimmune condition, you should let go

Of the “good girl” syndrome, the results would eventually show
