Ten thousand steps a day is a goal to which we have been told to aspire
Despite there being no real evidence that this is the step count desired
For health benefits- I strive to hit this number too
But without dedicated time for walking, it is rather hard to do
*
Besides your step count, your gait speed as well
Has a bearing on your health status, as far as I can tell
I have always walked a bit faster than my peers
But this reflects my type A personality more than my health status, I fear
*
These days I often find myself walking slow
Trying to read something on my phone on the go
Walking at a faster pace tends to wear me out
This is an inexorable sign of aging, no doubt..
*
I hope my current gait speed I am able to maintain
For a long time to come, that I am not limited significantly by pain
The number of steps I walk per day may show variation
But the decline in my walking speed needs to show stagnation..
