Worrywart

There is not a single thing I can do to change the events unfolding before me

But I cannot help thinking about them, my mind is clouded in worry

I have a superstition that constantly ruminating

Over the worst possible outcome would prevent those events from culminating

In the worst case scenario of my imagination

That is how I explain my morbid fascination

With anxiety over anything that does not smoothly proceed

It seems constant worry has become a pressing need

*

What would happen if I were to let go?

I should honestly say that I do not know

Because not worrying about stuff is so foreign to me

There is a strange comfort in worrying constantly

*

I have compromised my sleep, my stress levels run high

Constant worry is exhausting, I shall not lie

Mindfulness, meditation, exercise-nothing appears

To have an appreciable impact on my anxiety, I fear

*

Worry is a constant companion for me

Even as I write these lines, about a number of issues I worry
